Prof. Ivan Stanković, PhD, is a professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, Serbia, and has been a panel member for 4 years. He believes the IMA holds its importance in the recognition of research and scientists from the fields of medicine and pharmacy in the region. He thinks that the quality of the research in the field of pharmacy is high and sometimes it is not easy to decide who deserves to be the winner.

He himself is deeply involved in research and critically assesses the conditions for research in Serbia as not ideal.

There are some problems with financing and purchasing reagents, and we waste a lot of time and energy on administration, for instance,

he points out some major issues, but at the same time he believes that research and development of internationally recognized approaches and methodologies is something that helps a lot in scientific risk assessment.

Working in the field of pharmacy, Prof. Stanković understands very well that people all over the world are eagerly waiting for the SARS CoV-2 vaccine. He hopes most of all that whoever manages to develop it, they will produce a safe vaccine. Generally speaking, there is a vibrant research activity going on in pharmacy, but the development is not evenly distributed in all therapeutic areas.

The application of the results of his scientific work is the greatest source of personal and professional satisfaction for Prof. Stanković, who would, if he were to choose his career one more time, opt for pharmacy again. It is very much part of his life that consumes a lot of his energy and sometimes does not leave him enough free time for his personal life, but he still tries to spend as much time as possible with his family and friends.
