Prof. Matija Tomšič, MD, PhD is Professor of Internal Medicine at the Medical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.

He has published over 90 original papers in SCI-listed journals and, along with Žiga Rotar, MD, designed the computer program BioRx.si, which is the national interactive registry of patients treated with biological drugs. He was also instrumental in the development of the RheumaHelper application, which is being used in 110 countries worldwide.

Matija Tomšič is also the editor and author of the textbook "Interna medicina" and several other books.

One of the most important added values of this contest is the applicability. We need to keep in mind that the strongest inner motivation of the researchers of this contest is to solve the research problem which has a name, surname and a soul, and that without research there is no good clinical practice and vice versa.
