Research Work: A prospective observational study on the long-term results of 90Yttrium citrate radiosynoviorthesis of synovitis in osteoarthritis of the knee joint

Rheumatologist Margit Szentesi, MD, PhD, from the polyclinic of Brothers Hospitallers of St. John of God in Budapest, was placed among the finalists of the International Medis Awards with her research about the effect of treatment of joint inflammation with an isotope for radiosynovectomy, which she developed with her colleagues a decade ago. She has proven that with this therapy the joint inflammation can be improved for a longer period of time.
Hopefully an International Medis Award can contribute to a better recognition of the new results, which can be applied as soon as possible to the daily routine and recognised by the National Health Insurance Fund.
