            tee&nbsp;of the International Medis Awards for Medical Research honours outs
            tanding research achievements in medicine and pharmacy in the Central Region
             and South-Eastern Europe.</strong><br /> <br /> Despite, or perhaps because
             of, the uncertainty that has swept the world in the face of COVID-19, the c
            ontest of science remains sworn in and unwaveringly determined that&nbsp;<st
            rong>scientific research</strong>&nbsp;is worth highlighting and&nbsp;<stron
            g>excellence of professionals</strong>&nbsp;is worth rewarding because indiv
            iduals and communities need it more than ever.</p>
<p>In 2021, we are invit
            ing submissions from doctors and pharmacists specializing in&nbsp;<strong>ga
            stroenterology, gynaecology, intensive therapy and anaesthesiology, neurolog
            y, ophthalmology, paediatrics, pharmacy, pulmonology and allergology, or rhe
            umatology.</strong></p>
<p>The submitted works will be evaluated according 
            to predefined criteria by a professional jury composed of internationally re
            cognized experts from various disciplines, headed by the&nbsp;<strong>chairm
            an of the committee</strong>&nbsp;<strong>Prof. Dr. Borut Štrukelj, MSc Pha
            rm, PhD,</strong>&nbsp;from the Department of Pharmaceutical Biology, Facult
            y of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana.&nbsp;The committee will select<stron
            g>&nbsp;two finalists and one winner from each research area</strong>.</p>
