In collaboration with the STAklub of the Slovenian Press Agency we have organized an event titled “How Pledged to Studies and Science Are Experts in These Uncertain Times?”.

Researchers, especially in the fields of medicine and pharmacy, are currently directly and most of the time engaged in the fight against Covid-19. At the same time, they are actively connecting in other fields and focusing on research and activities which contribute to a more successful battling of the Covid-19 pandemic. What does that mean in terms of searching new treatment options and solutions in other vitally important medical fields? Is research work of doctors and pharmacists hindered in this new reality? Are there fewer funds for participating in studies and have some of them even been interrupted?

We talked about the importance of studies which take place next to everyday clinical practice and bring welfare and greater quality of life of the patients, as well as about the importance of recognizing national and regional excellence in science, with renowned Slovenian experts:

  • Prof. Matija Tomšič, MD, PhD, rheumatologist from the University Medical Centre Ljubljana
  • Prof. Borut Štrukelj, MSc Pharm, PhD, Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Ljubljana
  • Prof. Gregor Serša, BSc Biology, PhD, the President of the Scientific Council for Medical Sciences at the Slovenian Research Agency
  • Assist. Tanja Soklič Košak, MD, PhD, otorhinolaryngologist from the University Medical Centre Ljubljana

The event is in Slovenian and you can watch it in the video below.
